Bio: Bethany is the Legal Programme Manager for Southeast Asia, Australia and the Pacific, for TrustLaw – the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s global pro bono legal programme. She manages TrustLaw’s network of NGOs, social enterprises, and lawyers in the region. She facilitates pro bono legal assistance for members, and supports strategic legal research programmes on regional and cross-border issues. She has a particular interest in refugees and forced migration.
Prior to joining the Thomson Reuters Foundation, Bethany worked in Thailand with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees where she conducted eligibility assessments for refugee status. Bethany also has experience in private practice in Australia where she was a lawyer at Clothier Anderson Immigration Lawyers, a leading specialist law firm. In 2014 Bethany, was a Judges’ Associate at the Supreme Court of Victoria. Bethany also has considerable volunteer experience with Victoria Legal Aid, the International Commission for Jurists and community legal centres in Australia.
