Bio: Dato’ Sri M. Ramachelvam read law at the University of Malaya and obtained the degree of Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) in 1984. He was admitted and enrolled as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1985. He is presently a Partner of Messrs Rama-Rozi Associates.He is the Past Chairman of the Pahang Bar Committee. He has served as a Council Member / Special Committee Member of the Bar Council of Malaysia for eleven terms. Presently he serves as the Chairperson of the Migrants Refugees & Immigration Affairs Committee; and the Task Force on the Independent Police Complaints & Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) of the Bar Council of Malaysia.
He has previously served as Chairperson / Co-Chairperson of several other Bar Council Committees including the Law Reform & Special Areas Committee, Mega Defamation Suits Committee, Environmental Law Committee, and the Human Rights Committee.
He is a founding member of the National Human Rights Society (HAKAM) and has served as the Protem Secretary and Treasurer of Hakam. Presently he serves as an EXCO Member of Hakam.
He is presently the Coordinator for the Asean Bar Association Coalition on Migration (ABACOM) which was formed in 2016. He is also a member of the Lawyers Beyond Borders Network.
