Renita is the Chairperson of the Young Lawyers Chapter of the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association, as well as presently an in-house legal counsel at CapitaLand Pte Ltd. She has been touted as “a next generation in-house counsel to watch” by the Asia Law Network, and has been named as one of the “Top Lawyers under 40” in Singapore by the Singapore Business Times for 2018. In addition, Renita is well known for her various contributions both within the legal fraternity, and in various charitable endeavours within the Singapore community. Starting out her career at the prestigious law firm of Allen & Gledhill LLP in Singapore, Renita obtained both her litigation and corporate training from the firm, before moving on to join her client at Ascendas-Singbridge, under the Temasek family. The Ascendas entity has since been bought over by CapitaLand Ltd, to form one of the top 10 largest real estate companies in the world, and the largest in Singapore. There, Renita works on an extensive array of matters from transaction purchases/ divestments, to construction, to leasing and property management matters. In addition, Renita is well equipped to constantly advise and assist her colleagues on all matters while working with all levels from operational, all the way up to management and board of directors. During her years at the firm, Renita has co-authored various arbitration, insolvency and then real estate and construction articles in various journals in Singapore, including an article on “Interim Measures in Arbitration” in the Singapore Academy of Law Journal, as well as the Commercial Real Estate chapter in the Halsburys Laws of Singapore. She also volunteered her time in various practice committees for the Law Society, as well as was a tutor for the pupillage preparatory course for the Bar exam for Conveyancing and Real Estate. She is also actively involved with the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association, where she has continued to help grow the number of younger in-house lawyers, and to help provide support for the community. In particular, Renita has helped launch the Pro Bono Initiative for In-house lawyers to step forward in Singapore, beginning with efforts to assist various charities, NGOs and ground up movements, as well as foreign worker issues. All in all, Renita is slated to continue to be a dynamic force with any organisation that she is with, and aims to truly motivate in-house lawyers to step forward wherever they are, to the extent they can, to help give back to the community with their pro bono legal efforts.
