Bio: Sadhana Rai started her legal career at Drew and Napier LLC in 2013. Sadhana joined the inaugural batch of Criminal Legal Aid Scheme (CLAS) Fellows (a pro bono outfit aimed at providing legal aid to underprivileged accused persons run by the Law Society of Singapore) halfway through 2015, and stayed on as a Fellow in 2016. In 2017, Sadhana was offered the prestigious role of CLAS Advocate. As a CLAS Advocate, Sadhana now supervises and mentors the CLAS Fellows, junior lawyers, interns, and young students looking to experience pro bono criminal work. Sadhana also is involved in the approval of aid applications, steering committee meetings, and other high level policy work. Sadhana continues to represent her clients and conduct trials of her own in the State and Supreme Courts. She has advised over 500 applicants in her time at CLAS thus far. She is also involved in pro bono and community outreach programs, and volunteers to give talks on a grassroots level and at schools.
