Senior Program Officer
Ms. Sumina Karki is a development professional and researcher with experience in governance, conflict transformation, and gender equity and social inclusion. Ms. Karki is currently a Senior Program Officer with The Asia Foundation, Nepal where she is responsible for managing and providing technical assistance to the Foundation on conflict transformation and strategic peacebuilding, gender equity and social inclusion (GESI), and sub-national governance program.
Ms. Karki has experience in program development and implementation, project management, monitoring and evaluation, and report writing. She has organized, designed, and facilitated trainings, national consultation programs on mediation, dialogue and GESI issues, and presented papers on the mentioned themes. She has supervised action research work on multi-stakeholder issues and conflicts to test strategies such as dialogue and mediation for conflict transformation and helped developing resource materials. Ms. Karki has conducted research on gender issues, written project briefs and proposals, and prepared research reports. She participated in the Center for Peace and Justice’s Summer Peacebuilding Institute course as a Winston fellow and International Visitor Leadership Program, a US State Department exchange program and has completed basic and advanced mediation and dialogue training. Ms. Karki holds a Master’s degree in Sociology/Anthropology from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal.
