Gemma-Jane Cooper
Legal consultant at Center for the Study of Humanitarian Law
Gemma-Jane is a legal consultant at the Center for the Study of Humanitarian Law, an education and research organisation based at the Royal University of Law and Economics in Phnom Penh. As part of her role at the Center, Gemma-Jane is developing a Professional Legal Skills course for final year law students to teach them about legal aid and access to justice in Cambodia.
Prior to moving to Cambodia in 2015, Gemma-Jane spent 10 years working as a lawyer and barrister in Melbourne, Australia, specialising in public liability, workers’ compensation and medical negligence claims.
Gemma-Jane’s pro bono experience includes providing legal advice to homeless people through the Homeless Persons’ Legal Clinic and volunteering at the Women’s Legal Aid Clinic.
