Suresh's depth and experience in civil litigation and advocacy practice include banking, insurance, international trade, defamation, industrial relations disputes, trade financing disputes, corporate litigation, intellectual property litigation, general contractual disputes and professional negligence.
His criminal practice encompasses a wide spectrum, for example, capital punishment cases of murder and drug trafficking, offences of graft and fraud, offences under the Securities and Futures Act and offences under the Companies Act. In fact whilst in White & Case Coling Ng LLP (a merged entity between an international US based law firm and a local law firm), he was senior partner and head of commercial infringements.
Currently entering his 20th year of practice, he has been involved in high-profile commercial and criminal cases (at the High Court and appellate levels) many of which have since become entrenched as ground-breaking precedents in Singapore case law. He has also been counsel for a number of SIAC and ICC arbitrations.
In matrimonial matters, Suresh has represented a cross section of clients in uncontested and contested divorces and on issues involving custody, maintenance and division of matrimonial assets. In the area of financial issues in matrimonial proceedings, he has represented both local and foreign parties, where he has successfully applied for the freezing and the non-dissipation of assets located in and outside the jurisdiction and handled issues relating to the removing of children out of the relevant jurisdictions.
Suresh was a Legal Advisor to the Singapore Advertisers Association from 1991 to 1993 and was a Statutory Council Member of the Law Society of Singapore from 1992 till 1999 and 2001 to 2003. Suresh was a council member of the Singapore Red Cross Society where he served as the Director of the Legal and Welfare Divisions for a number of years. He is an Honorary Member of the Society of Golden Keys. Suresh has been recognised for his substantial contributions to pro bono work via the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme. Suresh is the Vice-President of the Association of Criminal Lawyers of Singapore and in this capacity does, inter alia, pro bono work and liaison with the relevant stakeholders in the administration of criminal justice on issues including disclosure obligations, sentencing options, accused persons' rights etc.
